Casement windows
Casement Windows Fitted Across the Wirral and Chester
Side hung and top hung casements, made to the exact openings in your walls and fitted by our own installers. The most requested window style we survey, in a finish that suits the house rather than a catalogue.
Why so many homeowners here choose casements
A casement is a sash that swings open on hinges along one edge, either at the side or across the top. It is the style fitted to most post-war semis, bungalows and newer estates on the peninsula, which is why it is the one we are asked to quote for more than any other. When someone rings us to say they want their windows replaced like for like, nine times out of ten they are describing a casement.
The appeal is practical. Casements seal tightly against the frame when shut, give a wide clear opening when open, and can be arranged in almost any combination of fixed panes and opening sashes. That flexibility lets us match the pattern you already have, or rethink it where a room would benefit from more air or a cleaner view.
Frames and finishes we offer
We supply casements in uPVC and aluminium, with flush casement options for anyone after the look of a traditional timber window where the sash sits level with the outer frame instead of lapping over it. Every unit is made to measure from our survey figures, not squeezed into a stock size.
- A-rated double glazing as standard, with triple glazing available
- Internally beaded frames, so the glass cannot be removed from outside
- Multi-point locking on opening sashes
- White, anthracite, black, cream and woodgrain finishes
- Flush casement styles for a heritage appearance
Choosing the opening pattern
The most useful decision you make is where the opening sashes go. A kitchen window over a sink is easier to live with if the opener is on the side you can actually reach. A bedroom may need an escape opening, and upstairs openers at the front of the house often look best when they mirror each other. We walk through each opening with you at the survey rather than guessing from a photo.
Top hung openers suit bathrooms and landings where you want ventilation without a sash swinging into the way. Side hung openers give the larger clear gap and are the usual choice for fire escape windows. Fixed panes let in the most light for the money, because there is no sash frame to eat into the glass.
What happens from survey to fitting
We start with a free survey. Every opening is measured, the condition of the reveals and sills is checked, and we note anything that affects the fitting, such as a failed lintel or rotten timber sub frame. You then get a fixed written price with no hard sell and no follow-up sales calls.
On fitting day our own installers, never subcontracted, remove the old frames, fit the new casements, seal them inside and out and take the old windows away. Work areas are left tidy. Every installation carries our 10 year insurance-backed guarantee, and we are CERTASS accredited.
Casements, or something else?
Casements are not right for every home. Victorian and Edwardian houses that were built with vertical sliders usually look best with sash windows again, and upstairs rooms that are awkward to clean from outside can suit tilt and turn windows better. If you are unsure, our casement windows explained guide sets out the differences in plain terms, and we are happy to talk it through when we visit.
Questions
Common Questions
Can you match the look of my existing timber casements?
Often, yes. Flush casement styles and woodgrain finishes get close to the appearance of traditional timber, and we also restore or fully replace timber windows where that is the better answer.
Do casement windows need to be a standard size?
No. Every casement we fit is made to measure from the figures taken at your free survey, so it fits the opening you have.
Are uPVC casements secure?
Ours come with internally beaded frames and multi-point locking on every opening sash, so the glass cannot be taken out from outside and the sash locks at several points along its edge.
Is there a guarantee?
Yes. Every installation carries a 10 year insurance-backed guarantee.
Which areas do you cover?
The whole Wirral peninsula, Chester and everywhere within roughly 30 miles.
