Composite Doors Supplied and Fitted on the Wirral

Choose a front entrance that suits the house, or a substantial back door that works for everyday family use. We supply and fit composite doors, with the slab, frame, glass and threshold considered together rather than as separate purchases.

Start with the entrance, not just the door design

A front door has to look right from the street, bring the right amount of light into the hall and be comfortable to use every day. Before settling on a decorative panel, consider how the entrance works: whether the door opens into a narrow hallway, where a coat cupboard sits and whether anyone needs easier access over the threshold. These practical details can matter more than a colour picked from a brochure.

Composite back doors can suit an entrance where you want the same solid feel without the decorative emphasis of the front. A simpler panel or glazed design can work well beside a kitchen or utility room. At the survey, we consider the opening and how you use it before agreeing the specification.

The slab, frame and locking work as a set

Composite slabs with solid timber cores for strength and insulation are part of our door range. The slab is the moving door itself, but it depends on the surrounding frame, hinges and locking keeps to work properly. Replacing a tired entrance is an opportunity to assess the whole assembly, rather than fitting a new panel into an unsuitable old frame.

Our composite doors have multi-point locking. Several locking points engage with the frame, so correct alignment matters as much as the handle you see. We discuss the lock and hardware choices alongside the design, and the finished door should close and lock without needing to be lifted or forced.

Colour and glass choices with a purpose

Composite door colours change the character of an entrance, but the inside face deserves attention too. A darker external colour might suit the brickwork while a lighter interior works better in a small hall. Agree both faces before ordering, including how the frame and any side panels will relate to the door.

Glass can brighten a hall or give a view of the garden from a back entrance. Clear, obscure and decorative designs balance daylight with privacy differently. Think about what can be seen from the pavement, and whether a small vision panel or a larger glazed section better suits the room. The glass specification belongs in the written quote, not just the design name.

Thresholds and the existing opening

An easier step through the doorway needs to be balanced with keeping rain outside. Floor levels, the external path and how exposed the entrance is all affect the threshold choice. Thresholds are levelled and sealed properly for weather tightness; the height and surrounding finishes should be discussed before manufacture.

If you have an existing glazed side panel, include it in the survey. Its frame, glass and proportions influence the finished entrance. Measure the whole opening rather than assuming a door size taken from the visible panel is enough.

A survey followed by a written decision

Wirral Windows is family-run. Every frame is measured, made and fitted by our own team. We offer a free survey with a fixed written price and no-pressure quotations, so you can consider the design and specification before committing. The site is left tidy at the end of each day.

Compare the proposed door with uPVC if budget or a simpler back entrance is your priority. Compare the core, locking and glazing choices as well as the design, so the door suits both your entrance and budget. Questions

Common Questions

Are composite doors better than uPVC?

Composite offers a more substantial slab and timber-look designs. uPVC can be a practical, budget-conscious choice, especially for a back or side entrance. Compare the complete door, glass and locking specification rather than choosing by material alone.

How long do composite doors last?

The useful life depends on the slab, finish, hardware, exposure and care. Keep seals and moving parts in good condition and follow the product care instructions. A sticking lock or worn seal does not automatically mean the whole door needs replacing.

Can I choose the colour inside and out?

Different internal and external finishes are available in composite door ranges. We discuss the combination for your chosen design at the survey and agree it before ordering.
