Three honest routes
Which Sash Option Suits Your House?
Guide prices from our sash window cost guide. Your survey gives the fixed figure.
| Option | Guide price | What you get |
|---|---|---|
| uPVC sliding sash | Roughly £450 to £900 per window | Vertical sliders with modern seals. Tilt inward for easy cleaning. Low maintenance. |
| New timber sash | Roughly £900 to £1,800+ per window | Closest match to original windows. Often preferred in conservation areas. Full replacement of worn frames. |
| Restore existing timber | Priced at survey | Keeps sound original frames. Careful restoration where the timber allows. Least disruption. |
Every installation comes with A-rated double glazing as standard, multi-point locking, a choice of white, cream, woodgrain and darker finishes, old frames taken away, and our 10 year insurance-backed guarantee.
Questions
Before You Book
- Will uPVC sashes look right on an older house?
- Good quality uPVC vertical sliders look convincing from a normal viewing distance. On listed buildings, or where you want the closest match, timber is usually the better route.
- Do I need permission?
- On an unlisted house outside a conservation area, generally no. In conservation areas or on listed buildings, check with your local planning authority first, as timber may be required.
- Repair or replace?
- If the timber is sound, restoring it can be the sensible choice. If there is significant rot or the frames are badly out of true, replacement is usually better value long term. We tell you honestly at survey.
